After a wonderful opening to rehearsals, we began breaking down the play and slowly looking at each unit and character individually. Working with the text, each character analysed their motivations and sentiments carefully.
Coming together in intense rehearsals, we worked on relationships by improvising around the text, without fixing movements the characters explored how the would be propelled in the space. Locking down some key ideas and realising more to the play than we expected, we were able to try out different ways of expressing our discoveries. Still playing and exploring, all the characters were able to come together and different points and push each other's expectations, and with a developed sense of themselves, work out their reactions.
After two weeks of playing slowly, although rehearsals were precise and detailed, we were amazed with what had been completed. Now to try it outside....
